Geography opens up for learners the physical environment around them and the ways in which people interact with this environment. The purpose of Geography is to develop the learner’s understanding of our changing world and its human and physical processes. The contexts for study are local, national, international, and global.
HISTORY:
The purpose of the Courses is to open up the world of the past for learners. History provides learners with insights into their own lives and of the society and the wider world in which they live. The learner will acquire breadth and depth in their knowledge and understanding of the past through the study of Scottish, British, European and world contexts in a variety of time periods.
MODERN STUDIES:
Modern Studies develops the learner’s understanding of fundamental processes which underpin political and social life. These processes are considered in local, national and international contexts.
RELIGIOUS & MORAL EDUCATION:
RME recognises religion as an important expression of human experience. The learner will develop their knowledge and understanding of the beliefs, values, practices and traditions of Christianity and the world religions selected for study. The learner will explore and develop knowledge and understanding of religions, recognising the place of Christianity and world religions in the Scottish context.
