Dear Parents and Carers
New Timetable & Senior Phase Leavers
I am writing to you all to make you aware of our school plans with regards to changing to our new timetable and the plans for those senior phase pupils that are due to leave school this year.
As you will appreciate, Covid19 has had a profound impact on our school year and our normal structure has had to change and adapt. As such we have planned for the following:
New Timetable (S1-5 pupils)
We would usually aim to change our school timetable at the beginning of June, Due to the major changes made to assessment arrangements this year, all schools have had to adapt their change of timetable date. As such, we will start the new timetable on Monday 14 June. This means that all pupils will have two weeks in their new year group and classes before the start of the summer holidays.
Senior Phase Leavers
You will be aware that this year senior phase pupils are completing the formal assessments, that will be used to arrive at their provisional grade, in their normal class time. This process has required a significant amount of planning and quality assurance in order to ensure that all pupils are given the best chance to achieve. Therefore, we are asking that all senior phase pupils remain in school until Friday 11 June. For those pupils in S6 and anyone else planning on leaving, this will be their last day in school. Whilst some pupils may have completed their assessments before this date, can I ask for your support in making sure they continue to attend up until this date, so that we can guarantee all work that is due, has been completed and quality assured. Attendance will be registered in the same way up to this date, and pupils missing from school will continue to get absence messages sent home.
This date will also give us an opportunity to celebrate the end of the school journey for all of our S6 pupils!
ACM/Provisional Results
We are currently waiting on the City of Edinburgh Council to confirm plans for the release of provisional results to pupils and parents/carers. At present, pupils will not be given any results or provisional grades in class. We will communicate how results will be released to parents/carers and senior pupils as soon as this information is available.
Yours sincerely,
Adam McFarlane
Acting Depute Headteacher
