Daily Update – March 25

Dear Parents/Carers and Pupils,

I hope you are all staying safe on day three of no school! I’m sure it still feels like you’re at school with all your hard work! I’ve seen so many great photos of young people working at home and I know the number of young people going online through Teams has hit a record high! Well done – and well done to the parents and carers who are helping with this at home!

Today there is some important information to share about SQA. As stated last week, no pupil was allowed to attend school this week to complete SQA coursework. We have now had notification that we will not be asked to submit coursework for Higher or Advanced Higher courses this session. If you have already completed and submitted coursework to your teachers, this can be used as evidence but will not be marked externally. Many subjects have already submitted National 5 coursework, for example, folios or assignments. These will be marked externally as normal. In some subjects, National 5 coursework will not have been submitted yet. This will not be sent for marking. If anybody has any questions about this, please contact me.

Furthermore, we are open from today as a hub school for young people of key workers. If you have signed up to use this service you should have received an email yesterday. Please contact us or send your child to school if you have requested support for childcare via the City of Edinburgh Council and you are a key worker – we are open and ready to welcome our young people in this situation!

Yesterday we had our experts, Demi and Olaf, show us how to make an amazing  cup of tea! Miss Dunlop sent us a video of her great cup of tea! Glad the video helped you, Miss. D! I hope you managed to try making a cup of tea at home too!

Take care everyone and as always, please message the Facebook page or email me at Shelley.McLaren@craigroyston.edin.sch.uk if you need anything.

Stay safe.

Kind regards,
Mrs. McLaren

Our song of the day is ‘Things Can Only Get Better’ by D:Ream requested by Miss Wilson. A very apt choice at this moment in time!

Our quote of the day:

“And the people sat still and the earth healed and spring came, flowers bloomed, bringing hope and beauty back into the world…”

Our challenge of the day is making or drawing an exciting recreation of your house emblem! If you’re in Arran it’s a stag; if you’re in Bute it is a kestrel and Mull is a shark! Make it as colourful and creative as you can! Send us your pics once you’re done!

Our video of the day is Mrs. Grant who is back with some tricks you can try at home with your pet pooches! Well done, Mrs. G and Lola! You’ve given us some great advice and tips!
