Dear Parents/Carers and Pupils of Craigroyston,
I hope you are all well and staying safe. I am sure it will have been strange waking up this morning and not having to come to school! I for one missed seeing all our pupils’ wee faces coming into school this morning!
Each day I will put up a ‘Daily Update’ giving any new information that has been shared from the City of Edinburgh Council. We’ll also try and have a more lighthearted side too with a daily video, quote and song – any requests welcome!
Now for some important information…
Yesterday, John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Education, announced that no S4-S6s should be coming into school to complete unfinished coursework. This is different to the information we shared on Friday. Anybody who has coursework that can be completed at home (for example, English folios or dissertations) should continue to work on it and keep in contact with their teacher via email or Teams. Once we have more information about this we will let you know.
Furthermore, I found out yesterday that our school is going to be used as a hub for pupils whose parents are key workers. What this looks like has still to be determined but I will let you know as soon as I can.
Many of you will be thinking so what do I do now? It probably feels quite overwhelming because you have been given so much work and information over the past week and you might not know where to start! Today, make a plan or a wee timetable for the week. Think about when you’re going to complete each piece of work – having a structure will help you to focus! Try and break the day down into three parts – for example, in the morning you might write a story for English, mid morning you might do maths and in the afternoon you might work through questions for history.
The main thing to remember through all of this is that we’ve got to keep everyone safe. I’ve had a few emails over the weekend from people in the community who are worried that they’re still seeing large groups of young people together when we’re supposed to be social distancing. Please remember that nobody is safe from this so we must look after each other and listen to what we’re being told to do. I know you’ll all want to be out with your friends in the lovely weather but please remember that we are probably going to make it worse by doing that!
Any questions, concerns or requests for this page, please message the Facebook page or email me at Shelley.McLaren@craigroyston.edin.sch.uk.

Take care and stay safe!
Kind regards,
Mrs McLaren
Our video of the day is a throwback to Friday when we had a visit from a dinosaur aka Thomas Greig (S5) who kept our S1s entertained!
Our song of the day is ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams requested by Demi Lamb (S5)
Our challenge of the day: Keepie Uppies!
Who can do more than thirty keepie uppies in one go? Send us a video to the Facebook page and we might show yours tomorrow! Make sure you do this safely – no breakages please!
Our quote of the day:
“Life always waits for some crisis to occur before revealing itself at its most brilliant.”
