Pupil Support Leaders are the main point of contact between home and school. One of the most important functions of Pupil Support is to offer support to pupils and parents. They can offer advice on the curriculum and careers, and will process information to/from teachers, parents, pupils and other agencies; write reports & references; track and monitor attendance, behaviour and progress.
In addition, Personal and Social Education (PSE) lessons are delivered to all pupils on a weekly basis. The PSE programme at Craigroyston follows national Curriculum for Excellence guidelines covering topics under the following headings:
• Mental, Emotional, Social and Physical Wellbeing
• Relationship, Sexual Health and Parenthood
• Substance Misuse
• Planning for Choices and Change
The aims of the lessons are to help pupils acquire skills, knowledge and attitudes which will enable them to be socially aware and responsible citizens. Furthermore, PSE lessons give pupils the chance to develop their own values through class discussions, group work and individual activities.
The PSE programme is evaluated and updated each year to take account of new information and resources available.
If a pupil is experiencing any difficulties, they should talk to their Pupil Support Leader. We would also encourage parents to contact us at an early stage with any concerns they may have.
