Daily Update – Wednesday, April 3

Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils of Craigroyston,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to having a few weeks without having to study every day! I am sure many people were outside last night cheering on the NHS and all the other key workers! We were not only celebrating our doctors and nurses who are doing an incredible job, but also everyone else who’s keeping our country running – from our shop workers to our bin collectors to our bus drivers, everyone has been helping us through this difficult time! Like last week, my street was really loud and people even had pots and pans! I didn’t hear any bagpipes but it was lovely to watch this in the streets around the country!

Thank you once again to everyone who picked up work yesterday – it was brilliant to see so many people and great to know that our young people are working hard at home! I will be here at reception until 3pm today so please come in and collect any work you might need for over the holidays!

Yesterday’s challenge was to make something bright and colourful for our local care homes and hospitals! Thank you to everyone who did this – there were so many beautiful pieces of work! Daisy Ritchie (S1), Mr. Irving, Mrs. Hunter’s children and Mr. Baxter’s wee girl Maggie all did lovely, cheerful art work which I have no doubt will make people very happy! Mrs. Gancheva admitted she wasn’t very good at drawing and sent us in a painting by Picasso instead!

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you once again for supporting us through this very challenging time! Although there will be no teaching staff in school next week I will be checking my email so if there’s anything you need please email me at Shelley.McLaren@craigroyston.edin.sch.uk or message the Facebook page. I hope everyone has a lovely Easter holidays and hopefully after this we will have more information about when things may return to normal again.

Take care, be good and be safe!

Kind regards,
Mrs. McLaren

Our challenge of the day send us your best TikTok video (even just a chorus!) or show us your best attempt at beatboxing! Many of you were inspired by Soul Box when they came to our school so why don’t you give it a go?!
